“In an age of constant movement,
nothing is more urgent
than sitting still.”

Pico Iyer

During the week we sit together in the morning for two sets of 2-hour periods of zazen (silent meditation). This longer schedule serves to accommodate those joining from different time zones, so know that you’re welcome to come to any part of the sit, and take breaks as needed.

Daily Morning Zazen:
5:30–6:30 am Zazen, Four Immeasurables (Long)
and Verse of the Kesa
6:30–7:30 am Zazen and Karaniya Metta Sutta
7:30–8:30 am Zazen, Four Immeasurables (Long)
and Verse of the Kesa
8:30–9:30 am Zazen and Karaniya Metta Sutta

The same Zoom link can be reused for any session of Daily Zazen. Registration is not required after your first session. Register again if you’d like to receive reminder emails including the link.

To deepen your zazen practice and learn more about the Buddhist teachings through dharma talks and study sessions led by our Guiding Teacher, Vanessa Zuisei Goddard, join us for Wednesday Evening Zazen.

We look forward to sitting with you.

What is Zazen?

In Buddhism, the main path to liberation is meditation, or, as it’s called in Zen, zazen, seated meditation. Zen Buddhist practitioners sit in silence, and often sit with sangha. It is an illuminating and immeasurable practice, and the one way to truly know what zazen is, is to do it and to do it consistently. This is why OMS offers Beginner’s Instruction, in various formats, and many ways to sit together online freely almost every day. All are welcome.
